We help to establish inclusive society that is open for people with special needs

WHAT WE DO

Main Activities of KARLSSON'S HOME ASBL, Supporting Children, Adults with Disabilities, and Their Families

Our charitable foundation, focused on supporting children, adults with disabilities, and their families, plays a crucial role in society by providing necessary assistance and support to those facing physical, intellectual, and other forms of limitations.

Financial Support and Medical Assistance

One of the key aspects of our work is providing financial assistance for medical services, rehabilitation, and the purchase of specialized medical devices. This may include covering surgical procedures, acquiring prosthetics, rehabilitation equipment, and other necessary medical supplies.

Educational Programs and Training

The foundation also supports education by providing access to specialized educational programs, training, and courses that help individuals with disabilities and their families improve their quality of life. These initiatives aim to enhance knowledge and skills essential for independence and integration into society.

Psychological and Social Support

An important aspect of our activities is providing psychological and social support. This includes counseling, psychotherapeutic assistance, organizing support groups, and events aimed at socialization and enhancing the mental well-being of disabled individuals and their families.

Infrastructure Development and Adaptive Environment

KARLSSON'S HOME ASBL actively works on improving infrastructure and creating adaptive environments for disabled individuals. This involves installing specialized playgrounds, producing adapted clothing, providing employment opportunities in our workshops, and other amenities that enhance the comfort and quality of life for people with disabilities.

In summary, charitable foundations dedicated to supporting children, adults with disabilities, and their families play a key role in creating an inclusive society and ensuring equal opportunities for all its members. Their work is vital not only from a practical standpoint, providing tangible assistance, but also symbolically, demonstrating the importance of attention and care for every individual, regardless of their physical or intellectual abilities.

This is our story

In 2023, a mum of two children decided to launch manufacturing and installment of children's playgrounds and equipment for them. Parallel to that, she started volunteering in a crisis center in Brussels. It became obvious how many children have special needs and that is how an idea of creating inclusive playgrounds for all children was born. Another essential component is setting up a foundation which provides comprehensive support to children with special needs and their families. We believe that it will lead to establishing a welcoming and tolerant environment, making friends and having quality leisure time, and will allow those who are in need to get support when they are experiencing difficult times.

HOW WE HELP

Our documents and reports

States Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts. (Article 31, Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted 20 November 1989 by General Assembly resolution 44/25)
